Frank Romano

Frank Leo Romano, 84, of Benton, died Monday, July 19 on Highway 80 East in Calloway County.

Born December 15, 1925, Mr. Romano had lived in Alton, East St. Louis, and Swansea, IL before moving to Benton, KY in his retirement. He served in the Army in the 103rd Infantry and was a Purple Heart recipient. He worked for Swift & Company, Sears & Roebuck Co., then with his son at Edgemark Sports and Fairview Sports and Hardware. Mr. Romano was a member of VFW Post 805, the Knights of Columbus #592, and a Kentucky Colonel.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Augustina Annarino Romano.

Romano is survived by his wife, Susan Romano of Benton; a son, Michael Romano of Benton; a brother, Leonard Romano of Fairview Heights, IL; a sister, Grace Hrbusicky of Collinsville, IL; a granddaughter, Elizabeth Romano Martin; a great grandaughter, Madison Martin; 14 nieces and nephews; and 15 great nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be from 4 – 8 pm on Thursday, July 22 at Kassly Mortuary in Fairview Heights, IL.

A Funeral Mass will be held on Friday at 10 am at St. Henry’s Catholic Church in Belleville, IL with Father Blazine officiating. Burial will follow at Mount Carmel Cemetery in Belleville, IL.
