Anthony "Tony" Hamby

Tony Hamby, 68, of Murray, died Saturday, March 17, 2012 at his residence.
Born May 31, 1943, Tony served in the United States Army for three years. Following his service, he graduated from Western Kentucky University and Memorial Mission Hospital School of Anesthesia in Asheville, NC. Tony began his Anasthesia career in North Carolina before moving to Murray,KY in 1974. He worked in the Anesthesia department at Murray-Calloway County Hospital for 33 years before retiring. In addition to the dedication to his career, Tony had many hobbies including woodworking, fishing, bird watching, horseback riding, traveling, and boating on Kentucky Lake. Most of all, Tony cherished his friends and family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Carl and Betty Hancock Hamby of Crossville, TN; and his brother, Steve Hamby, also of Crossville, TN.
Tony is survived by his wife of 43 years, Yvonne Hamilton Hamby; two daughters, Brandy Gordon and husband Derek of Lexington,KY, Courtney Hayden and husband Tim of Mayfield,KY; two grandchildren, Avery Hayden and Ashton Gordon; a sister, Brenda Sampson and husband Ben of Crossville,TN; and a sister-in-law, Mary Hamby also of Crossville,TN.
A private memorial service will be held at a later date.
