Abe Ridings

Alton Brooks “Abe” Ridings, 83, of Hazel died Wednesday, February 17, 2010 at Lourdes Hospital in Paducah.
Born September 26, 1926 in Calloway County, KY, Ridings worked as a truck driver. He was an Army WWII veteran, a member of the Hazel Lions Club, an avid hobbyist and of Protestant faith.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Lucian Thomas and Mary Guthrie Ridings; three sons, Timothy Dan Ridings, Herman Guthrie and Tommy Guthrie; one sister, Anna Brown Miller; and a great-grandchild.
Ridings is survived by a loving partner, Mildred Guthrie of Hazel; two sons, Thomas Eugene Ridings (Carol) of Meridian, MS and Glenn Brooks Ridings (Gretta) of Paducah; five daughters, Sharon Martin (Jack) of Tupelo, MS, Pam Dickerson (Weaver) of Paducah, Jennifer Corso (Barry) of Clarksdale, MS, Becky Miller and Kathy Wrye (Joe), both of Murray; twenty-five grandchildren; twenty-nine great grandchildren and 4 great-great grandchildren.
Services are scheduled for 11 am Saturday, February 20, 2010 at Imes-Miller Funeral Home with Rev. Glenn Hill officiating. Interment will follow at South Pleasant Grove Cemetery in Hazel.
Visitation will be 5 – 8 pm on Friday at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to South Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church at 5671 Crossland Rd., Hazel, KY 42049.
